Song of the paddle!

A top five day! The Next Step Trust were at the lake which was mirror like and perfect for a paddle. Sea Shanties and Native American songs were enjoyed 'animal spirit' a fav! The gang enjoyed a picnic lunch before joining us as the climbing wall.

Do Do Do the funky gibbon!

It was my nephews 4th birthday today so we had a special trip to the park. We pretended to be gibbons on the Slackline!

What a bargain!

As part of the Canal Festival there were free kayak and canoe sessions on at the lake today.  We pinched the rigging sticks from the windsurfers and made the most of a nice breeze to aid the journey round the lake!

NICAS

I was back at the indoor wall yesterday taking a NICAS session. NICAS is a great starting point for children looking to get into climbing and mountaineering. The group looked at some of the foundation stage criteria such as safety and putting on equipment before getting plenty of climbing in!

A day to remember!

A local secondary school were in with Septembers new cohort yesterday. The groups had a go at rafted canoe's, windsurfing, kayaking and raft building. Fun was had by all and no doubt the day will be relived in those first few weeks at their new school. Good luck!

Remote Supervision

I've spent the week working in the Lakes with Johnny and Greg, assessing their Gold D of E'rs. The group's succesfully completed their respective routes from High Cross YHA to Keswick without any major issues and only one wet day!

3rd time lucky!

I'm working for Darley barn outdoor centre all next week assessing a gold DofE expedition. The open group have had rotten luck trying to complete it. This years extended winter meant we had to rearrange dates. I made the most of the free time alongside Sarah and her family.

Climbing

Today was the final day for the multi-activity group. We moved inside to the indoor climbing wall where we looked at some of the fundamentals of climbing before testing what we'd learnt with some games. Pirates of the karabiner being a favourite! After waving the Multi-activity group goodbye I was joined by the gang from the Next Step Trust who were returning for their regular climbing session. Great day.

Day two of this weeks multi-activity at the lake saw the group trying their hand at sailing, kayaking and windsurfing. Ultimate paddle-board frisbee was a great finish to a great day.

Back to the office

Well after a lovely few days with the family it was back to work. It was a busy day at the lake today. Mini splash, multi-activity, climbing, windsurfing instructor courses and a birthday party! Lots of fun had by all and hopefully more of the same tommorow!

Swim and Stanage

A relaxing Sunday spent swimming in the outdoor pool in Hathersage, drinking coffee in the pool cafe and watching climbers test themselves at Stanage. As usual Black hawk and Manchester Buttress areas were popular with a constant flow up Gargoyle Variant. Flying Buttress had a party on it but no one cutting loose across the roofs of Flying Buttress Direct.

Malham

Lovely walk around Malham today with 8 1/2 month pregnant Sarah. We sat and watched climbers in the cove on lower right before wandering across the limestone pavement to Gordale scar. We dabbled our feet in the pool below Janets Foss before returning to Malham for a slice of cake.

An Edale adventure

Taking advantage of a few days off I took my brother in law and little nephew to Edale for a nights camping. A dead sheep, a sheep rescue, wild fruits and the woolpack stones provided plenty of entertainment on our route up Crowden and down Grindsbrook.
